Our History

For more than twenty years, the Missionary Baptist Vacation Bible School Literature Committee prepared an original set of lessons each summer — a single theme carried through a booklet for every age, from the nursery class to the adults. The lessons gathered here span 1997–2020, and they are truly the work of many hands: a different writer for nearly every booklet and, in some years, a different writer for each lesson, along with chairmen, editors, proofreaders, cover artists, and the brothers and sisters who laid out every page.

The literature was written and published by the authority of Mount Lebanon Missionary Baptist Church, Alvaton, Kentucky (Warren County), in cooperation with sister churches of Warren County, and was always shared freely so that any church could use it.

The final chapter. The Missionary Baptist Vacation Bible School Literature Committee has concluded its work, and no new lessons are being written. The 2020 study, “Will You Remain in the Pit?”, is the last set of literature the Committee produced. What these many hands built over more than two decades is now complete — and it is preserved here in full, freely, so that their labor may go on serving churches for years to come.
